Canaanites, The
The Canaanites may denote either the descendants of Canaan who inhabited the land or, in some contexts, merchants and traders.
Biblical Usage
The term can designate the non-Israelite inhabitants of the land in general and can also carry the sense of trader in passages where the word is used in a commercial setting.
