Caleb
Caleb son of Jephunneh was one of the twelve spies sent to Canaan and, with Joshua, urged Israel to trust God and enter the land. Because of his faithfulness, he survived the wilderness generation and received Hebron as his inheritance.
Biblical Usage
Caleb and Joshua alone encouraged Israel to enter the promised land when the other spies brought an evil report. Because of his faithfulness, Caleb survived the wilderness generation. At eighty-five he claimed Hebron, drove out the Anakim, and received it for himself and his descendants.
