Cain
Cain was the first son of Adam and Eve. After God regarded Abel’s offering favorably, Cain murdered his brother in jealousy, was judged to be a fugitive, and became an enduring biblical example of sinful anger and unbelief.
Biblical Usage
Cain’s account presents jealousy, self-will, unbelief, and murder, while also showing God’s judgment and pity toward the guilty. His offering was inferior to Abel’s, and later Scripture uses Cain as an example of the wicked and ungodly. The town Cain is listed among the cities of Judah.
