Brick
A brick was a building block commonly made from Nile or local mud, often strengthened with straw and dried in the sun. Israelite laborers were forced to make bricks in Egypt, and bricks were also used in ancient Mesopotamian construction.
Biblical Usage
The Israelites were compelled to make bricks in Egypt, and their task became harder when they were required to gather their own straw. Brickmaking also appears in the account of Babel, where burnt bricks were joined with bitumen.
