The corruption of judgment when a magistrate's discernment is covered or influenced by partiality, sympathy, or bribery. The Old Testament repeatedly condemns gifts that pervert justice and affirms God's impartiality.
Biblical Usage
The Old Testament condemns gifts that blind the wise and open-eyed, warns against favoring either the poor or the powerful, and affirms that God Himself is impartial and takes no reward.
