Bithynia
Bithynia was a Roman province in northwestern Asia Minor. Paul was prevented by the Spirit from entering it, while Christian congregations existed there early in the church’s history.
Biblical Usage
Paul and Silas attempted to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit did not permit them. Christian congregations were formed there early, and Bithynia is included among the provinces addressed in 1 Peter.
