The bear appears in Scripture as a fierce animal capable of defending its young and attacking people or flocks. Daniel also uses a bear symbolically for one of the great kingdoms.
Biblical Usage
David defended his flock against a bear, and two she-bears attacked those who mocked Elisha. Bears also provide several figurative comparisons, and Daniel’s vision uses a bear to represent the Medo-Persian empire.
