Bashan
Bashan was a fertile region east of the Jordan, extending from Gilead toward Hermon. Israel conquered it from King Og, and much of it was allotted to the half-tribe of Manasseh.
Biblical Usage
Israel defeated Og and received Bashan as an inheritance. Golan, one of its cities, became a city of refuge. Scripture uses Bashan’s cattle, oaks, forests, plains, and fertility as notable images and descriptions.
