Barnabas
Barnabas was a Levite from Cyprus and an important early Christian leader. He encouraged the church, introduced Paul to the apostles, served with Paul in Antioch and missionary work, and later traveled with Mark.
Biblical Usage
Barnabas introduced the converted Saul to the apostles, helped direct the church at Antioch, and brought Saul from Tarsus to assist there. He served with Paul in missionary work, was called an apostle, attended the Jerusalem consultation concerning Gentiles, and later traveled with John Mark.
