Babel
Babel was the ancient city associated with the land of Shinar and the beginning of Babylonian power. Its name is connected in Genesis with the confusion of human language and the judgment at the tower.
Biblical Usage
Scripture connects Babel with the beginning of Nimrod’s kingdom and with the tower whose construction was associated with the confusion of human language. Prophets also foretold Babylon’s fall and desolation.
