Asherah
Asherah was a Canaanite goddess and the name of her wooden or carved image. Israel was repeatedly condemned for setting up Asherim beside the LORD’s altar and worshiping them.
Biblical Usage
Israel was repeatedly condemned for setting up Asherim beside the Lord’s altar, on high places, and even in the temple. The prophets and vessels of Asherah are mentioned, and reforming kings cut down or destroyed her images.
