To be ashamed is to feel confusion, disgrace, or fear because of guilt, exposure, failure, or dishonor. Scripture also speaks of freedom from shame through faith in God and loyalty to Christ.
Biblical Usage
Scripture connects shame with guilt, repentance, idolatry, reliance on human help, and judgment. It also speaks of Christ’s grace delivering believers from shame, of followers not being ashamed at His coming, and of Christ being ashamed of those ashamed of Him.
