Asahel

Asahel was David’s nephew and the brother of Joab and Abishai. Known for his speed, he pursued Abner and was killed by him; another Asahel served in later religious and administrative duties.
Biblical Usage
Asahel’s pursuit and death affected the conflict between the houses of David and Saul. He is listed among David’s mighty men and among the monthly military captains, with his son Zebadiah succeeding him. Other Asahels participated in teaching the Law, temple administration, and the inquiry concerning foreign marriages.
