ARSACES

Arsaces was the title used by the Parthian kings. In 1 Maccabees it refers especially to the Parthian ruler who defeated and imprisoned Demetrius Nicator before later releasing him.
Biblical Usage
First Maccabees records that Arsaces defeated Demetrius Nicator, took him alive, and kept him in custody. It also names Arsaces among the eastern kings whom the Romans warned not to make war on their Jewish allies.
