Ark Of The Covenant

Temple & Tabernacle • Both
The Ark of the Covenant was a gold-covered acacia-wood chest containing the testimony of God’s covenant. It stood in the Most Holy Place, beneath the mercy seat and cherubim, and symbolized the Lord’s covenant presence among Israel.
Biblical Usage
The ark symbolized God’s covenant and promised presence among Israel. It preceded the people in the wilderness, accompanied the crossing of the Jordan and the procession around Jericho, stood at Shiloh, was captured and returned by the Philistines, and was brought by David to Jerusalem. Solomon placed it in the Holy of Holies.
