Adullam
Places & Geography • Old Testament
Adullam was an ancient city of Judah and a place fortified by Rehoboam. David also took refuge in the nearby cave, where distressed and discontented men gathered around him.
Biblical Usage
David used the cave region of Adullam as a headquarters while fleeing Saul. Men in distress, debt, or discontent gathered around him, along with relatives, priests, and military companions. The biblical account does not require one immense cave holding all his men at once.
