ADONIS
Adonis was a name associated with the Babylonian god Tammuz. The biblical reference is found only in a marginal reading connected with Isaiah 17:10.
Biblical Usage
The name appears only in the English Revised Version margin of Isaiah 17:10, where “pleasant plants” is rendered “plantings of Adonis.” The American Standard Revised Version omits this marginal suggestion.
