Adam
Adam was the first man, formed by God from the dust and placed in Eden. Through his disobedience sin and death entered human experience; he is also presented in the New Testament as the ancestor corresponding to Christ, the last Adam.
Biblical Usage
Adam’s creation, marriage, fall, expulsion from Eden, and descendants are recorded in Genesis. Through his transgression sin and its consequences came upon his posterity; the narrative also contains the promise of a Deliverer. Adam is presented as the progenitor of the human race and, in the New Testament, in relation to Christ as the one who was to come.
