Aarat

Places & Geography • Old Testament
Ararat was a mountainous region of the Armenian highlands. The ark came to rest among its mountains after the Flood, and the region is also mentioned as a refuge for Sennacherib’s sons and as an ally of Minni and Ashkenaz.
Biblical Usage
Ararat is identified as the region among whose mountains the ark came to rest after the Flood. It was also the asylum of the sons of Sennacherib and is mentioned as an ally, and probably neighbor, of Minni and Ashkenaz. In the account of Sennacherib, the Authorized Version renders the expression “the land of Armenia.”
