Zalmunna was one of the two kings of Midian captured by Gideon. He was later put to death along with Zebah after Gideon’s victory over Midian.

Definition

Zalmunna was one of the two kings of Midian who led an invasion against Israel. Gideon captured him after defeating the Midianite forces.

Biblical Usage

Zalmunna escaped across the Jordan with Zebah and a remnant of the Midianites, but Gideon overtook them. Because the two kings had taken part in killing Gideon’s brothers, Gideon put them to death.

Historical Background

Zalmunna and Zebah fled toward Karkor with the surviving Midianite force. They were captured and brought back across the Jordan to Gideon’s home at Ophrah.
