A fold was an enclosure where sheep or other flocks rested together. It could also describe a place occupied by flocks after cities or settled regions had been desolated.
Sheepfolds appear in descriptions of pastoral life. Prophecies concerning Ammon, Aroer, and Judea speak of places becoming folds or resting places for flocks.
The expression “among the pots” is understood in a later rendering as “among the sheepfolds.”
