Beeshterah was one of the cities allotted beyond the Jordan to the Gershonite Levites of Manasseh. It is probably the same place as Ashtaroth.

Beeshterah was one of the two cities allotted beyond the Jordan to the Gershonite Levites from the tribe of Manasseh. Its name is explained as “house of Ashterah.”

Biblical Usage

Beeshterah appears in the allotment of Levitical cities east of the Jordan.

Historical Background

Beeshterah is probably identical with Ashtaroth.
