About This Artwork

The restored Odessa version of The Taking of Christ (also known as The Kiss of Judas), traditionally attributed to Caravaggio and held by the Odesa Museum of Western and Eastern Art. The painting was stolen from the museum in July 2008, recovered in Germany in 2010, and underwent conservation and restoration between 2018 and 2021. This photograph was taken during its exhibition at the Saint Sophia of Kyiv National Sanctuary in 2026.
