Jesus Mocked by the Soldiers

Manet choose to not emphasize Jesus' divine character, but to focus on his humanity. The soldiers seem to be impressed: is this the king of the Jews?

This painting is oil on canvas, measuring 191 × 148 cm. Manet painted it in 1865.  It is housed in the  Art Institute in  Chicago.
