Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart

The basilica is made of limestone in the   Romanesque Revival style. The first pipe organ came to the sanctuary in 1905. The marble high altar and stained glass windows from Munich, Germany followed in 1909. The three bells placed in the tower in 1911 are named: St. Richard, St. Joseph and the Blessed Virgin and weigh 2,600 pounds (1,200 kg), 1,500 pounds (680 kg) and 700 pounds (320 kg) respectively.

The Basilica of the Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is a cathedral church and a minor basilica located in Charleston, West Virginia, United States. Sacred Heart parish was established on August 1, 1866, when property was purchased. the church stares as a 2-story brick building before money was raised and H.B. Lowe was selected as architect for the new church. A new building was built, then expanded and improved during the early 1900s.
