The Carrying of the Cross

von Aachen was successful as a painter of princely and aristocratic portraits, and further painted religious, mythological and allegorical subjects. He was one of the leading representatives of Northern Mannerism.

This painting of Christ carrying the cross on which he is to be crucified is oil on panel and measures 42 x 59.9 cms | 16 1/2 x 23 1/2 inches.  It is housed in the Slovak National Gallery, Slovakia.
