Obidos uses touches of white and cream to create a sense of luminosity, as well as in the facial expressions and the texture of the fabrics. This is one of her most interesting paintings, and one of the finest examples of her skilled use of tenebrism, its subject matter, and the affectionate style in which it is represented.
