"The Risen Christ"
Ambrogio Borgognone (variously known as Ambrogio da Fossano, Ambrogio di Stefano da Fossano, Ambrogio Stefani da Fossano or as il Bergognone or Ambrogio Egogni,[ was an Italian painter of the Renaissance period active in and near Milan. His fame is principally associated with his work at the Certosa di Pavia complex, a monastery complex in Lombardy, Northern Italy.
Borgognone's style derives chiefly from Vincenzo Foppa, whose art he would have encountered in Milan. Like Foppa, but unlike most Milanese painters, Borgognone remained comparatively uninfluenced by the work of Leonardo da Vinci. He is known for faint and clear colouring, whether in fresco, tempera or oil; and his somewhat slender and pallid types.
